The University: The Fachschule fur Technik und Wirtshaft (FTW) is a university of applied sciences. A hoch- or fachschule is well known for its practical, hands-on approach and close cooperation with commerial enterprises. The FTW offers study programs in the fields of technology, computer science, business, culture and design, all of which are organized in five departments. However, only the International Business degree (UG) offers full course offering taught in English. Check out this welcome guide for more information.
Location: With about 3.5 million inhabitants, Berlin is the largest city of Germany and the headquarters of the German government and parliament. In no other German city is the process of reunification and growing together as clearly visible as here. Berlin is a metropolis of science, culture, media, and service sector of the German economy. It is also one of the biggest university towns in Germany. The FTW is centrally located in Berlin, and gives ample access to all avenues of cultural and social activity.
Students may participate in this program for a semester or academic year. Because of the semester schedule, it is recommended that semester students study at FTW for the Spring semester. For the semester or academic year program, students select from courses offered through International Business program. Its course work is taught in English.
Students are advised to book their accommodations before coming to Germany. Almost all students accept the offer of a room at the student dormitory for the time of their stay in Berlin. Thus, we recommend you rent a room at the student dormitories. This way you easily get in touch with other students. Moreover, it is rather difficult to find a cheaper private accommodation in Berlin.
The student residences in Berlin are not run by the city’s universities. They are administered by a seperate independent organization - the "Studentenwerk"(student services). The monthly rent for one person is approximately 200 €, sometimes a little bit less depending on the location and standard of the accommodation. However, you should plan on paying 200 Euros a month for renting a room at the dorm. For detailed information about the housing, click here.
