

The Office of Student Affairs provides incoming students the opportunity to get acquainted with our campus by providing two unique orientation programs.
New Student Orientation: Dusty Camp is provided for new first time freshmen entering the University. This is an exciting opportunity for students to meet their new classmates and learn about what to expect know that they attend TAMIU. This is an overnight experience and is required for all students.
Transfer Student Orientation: The Dustdevil Transition is provided as an alternative orientation program for those students coming to TAMIU from other campuses. The Dustdevil Transition allows students to learn about how to be successful, now that they have joined the TAMIU family.
International Student Orientation: International Student Orientation serves as the official welcome of international students to our campus. It is a required event for all visa holders as essential information is provided on compliance of visa, and travel information.
Pre-departure Orientation (Study Abroad):Pre-departure orientation is provided to students who will study abroad in a subsequent term. Expectations, requirements and tips are provided for a successful program experience.
Parent and Family Orientation: Parent and Family Orientation is a one-day orientation that runs simultaneously to our first day of New Student Orientation: Dusty Camp and gives families the opportunity to become acquainted with the TAMIU campus, our programs, and the faculty/staff that makes us the premiere university of South Texas.
