Service-Learning Expo

Important

Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, students will create a digital poster that showcases their Service-Learning course experience and submit it electronically. Posters will NOT be printed this year.

We will send students' posters to the judges electronically, and they will judge them using the rubric.

Students will receive their feedback once we have gathered all the information.

Below is a sample of what a digital poster looks like; however, remember that we will not be printing the posters this year. Instead, everything will be done digitally.

Example of Poster

Please email your poster as a PowerPoint Slide to servicelearning@tamiu.edu between Friday, April 3 and Wednesday, April 8, 2020. For additional instructions on creating a Professional Style Poster, visit the Poster Instructions Page.

Your poster must have the following information: Title, Class, Names of Participants, and Community Partner.

Description of your service experience:

• What did you do as part of your service?
• When did you do it?
• Who did you serve?

Connect your service to course content:

• How was your service related to your course?
• How did your service help the community?
• How did this project help your personal growth?

Examine your Service-Learning experience:

• What have you learned by being involved in this project/program?
• How do you plan on utilizing the skills you have learned beyond this course?
• What has been the most exciting experience with this program?

Research Integration

• What sources, research, or evidence helped you to draw some of your conclusions?
• What kind of research did you draw from to understand the social issue or service experience?

Be prepared to answer the following questions as part of your oral presentation:

• What have you learned by being involved in this program/project?
• How do you plan on utilizing the skills you have learned beyond this course?
• What has been your biggest challenge?
• What has been the most exciting experience with this program?
