About Disability Services for Students
The office of Disability Student Services (DSS) provides reasonable accommodations and services to students with disabilities who are enrolled at TAMIU. The DSS requests and maintains disability-related documents, certifies eligibility for services, and determines reasonable accommodations such as assistive technology services, sign language interpreting, evaluation referral options, disability related information, and liaison with faculty members. The DSS does not diagnose or conduct disability testing; however, students may contact the DSS office for resources and referral information. Additionally, the DSS does not provide services such as tutoring, personal expenses, scholarships, or personal attendants.
Ability and access services have been established to ensure that every reasonable effort is made to provide equal educational access to students with permanent or temporary disabilities. The following is a list of some of the accommodations for which students may qualify for depending upon their documentation and needs:
Arrangements for Accommodations are made by contacting the Disability Services Coordinator, Griselda Vizcarra
Throughout the semester Disability Services for students provides many formal and informal activities to provide the TAMIU community with information to enhance academic and professional performance.
