Personal Background
I was born in Monterrey,
NL Mexico, and graduated from the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores
de Monterrey (ITESM) with a degree
in Biochemical Engineering. I worked for the Cuauhtemoc brewery (of Bohemia,
Tecate and XX fame) for five years before deciding to attend graduate school.
After obtaining a PhD in Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry from the Biological
Sciences Department at Purdue University,
I became part of the faculty of Texas A&M International University in
Laredo, TX.
Activities/Interests.
I am interested in teaching biological and
chemical sciences to undergraduate students, and to do so, I
utilize both traditional classroom and laboratory methods, as
well as resources in computer aided instruction. I am also interested
in providing pre-professional advisement and research opportunities to undergraduates.
Other Sites to Visit
Some web pages from my
home town have interesting stuff. You can visit the city of Monterrey and the
state of Nuevo Leon through
the UANL server. You can also learn about
the ITESM or Tec de Monterrey, one
of the elite universities in Latin America.
