FACULTY While 2020 presented unprecedented challenges, TAMIU has reaffirmed its enduring commitment to inclusion, diversity and eq- uity through robust programming designed by the TAMIU Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (TIDE) Committee. Chargedby theOffice of the Provost theVice President for Academic Affairs, TIDE is committed to The Texas A&MUniversity System’s nor- mative principles of inclusion, diversity and equity. Itworks to advance these principles through cross-cultural exploration, inter-cultural relationship-building, andmutual learning events and activities that celebrate the unity of people in a democratic environment. The Dustdevil Diversity Spotlight Series serves as the anchor of a new and dedicated TAMIU Diversity and Inclusion website that features faculty, student and alumni stories. Among featured faculty are: 1. Dr. Marivic Torregosa , Dean, TAMIU College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Originally from the Philippines, Dr. Torregosa’s inspiration is compatriots who are excelling in the field of medicine, nursing, science and research. TAMIU REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO INCLUSION, DIVERSITY AND EQUITY WITH ROBUST PROGRAMMING 2. Dr. Adam Kozaczka , TAMIU assistant professor of Humani- ties. Originally fromthe Syracuse, N.Y. area, Dr. Kozaczka researches crossovers between literature and the law. A Polish descendant, he grew up bilingual. 3. Dr. JaredDmello , TAMIUassistant professor of Criminal Justice. Born in California, Dr. Dmello says the need for diversity, equity and inclusion is not restricted to universities, but applicable to society in general. 4. Dr. AlfredAddo-Mensah , TAMIUassociate professor of Chem- istry. Originally fromGhana, Dr. Addo-Mensah teaches andmentors students to prepare them for work and graduate school. 5. Dr. IrmaCantú , TAMIUassociate professor of Spanish. Originally fromMonterrey, Nuevo León,México, Dr. Cantú’s greatest inspiration is Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, a Mexican nun and poet who wrote the first document demanding education for women in 1691, publishing it in 1700.
