TAMIU alum JulioObscura (’14) has always had a knack for story- telling. So it’s no surprise that his desire to tell stories using emerging technologywas critical tohis selection as a 2020 Fulbright Arts Award recipient. Obscura earned a TAMIU degree in Communications and is the first TAMIUgraduate selected for one of theworld’smost prestigious academic honors. He travelled to London this September to begin an 18-month graduate program in Digital Direction as the first Royal College of Art (RCA) “Fulbrighter.” The RCA is regarded as the best art school in the world. The former creative director andofficial photographer for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said he has a focused vision for what his experience will yield. “My desire is to create immersive experiences using emergingdigital technologies to better inform and connect people in ways that have never been tried before. The goal of this work is to creatively address some of themost pressingproblems facing theworld today, including racism and climate change,” he explained.
