TAMIU STUDENTS TAMIU esport athletes met this Fall with students at United Independent School District’s Trautmann Elementary School through a live-streamed video session where they discussed their experiences as collegiate gamers. Members of the University’s esports team also discussed the importance of reading and writing skills and how those skills can translate to potential college admission opportunities… and perhaps even a future as a collegiate esports gamer. University students attending the livestream included Valorant esports coach Joseph Caminita , League of Legends esports coach Celeste Herrera , Rocket League esports coach Ethan García , and Call of Duty esports coach Eric Rodríguez . University students were also able to chat with elementary school students about their experiences as collegiate gamers. Offered through the University’s Rec Sports, the esports program currently competes through the National Association of Collegiate Esports, which is the primary organization for college esports and includes 120 member institutions across the country. The University’s esports teams have competed under several gaming titles, including Apex, Call of Duty, FIFA, League of Legends, Minecraft, Mortal Kombat, Rocket League and more.  The University’s esports team is also active on Twitch.
