UNIVERSITY OUTREACH ‘DISCOVER TAMIU’ HELPS FORGE CAMPUS RETURN, RESET As TAMIU carefully began its return to a full on- campus experience this year, one of its signature events, Discover TAMIU 2022, helped forge that cautious return. The eighth offering of the free, family-friendly event celebrated the excitement and discovery the University makes possible daily. Student clubs, faculty and staff worked together to present a fun day of exploration. Hundreds of attendees accepted the invitation, bringing friends and family to enjoy a day full of fun, educational activities. As before, Discover TAMIU followed five distinct Pathways that attendees of all ages could enjoy. Through the Artistic Avenue Pathway, participants explored activities dedicated to art, dance and music. Within the Spirited Speedway Pathway, individuals could learn about campus life and Dustdevil traditions. Traveling the International U Pathway, families shared in the humanities, culture and social sciences. The Business Boulevard Pathway focused on the role of business in the world. The final Pathway, ‘Scientific Journey,’ encouraged participants to learn more about the impact of science and STEM. Event activities offered something for everyone. Highlights included free showings at the Lamar Bruni Vergara Planetarium, activities on fire safety, the ever- popular Make Your Own Piggy Bank craft activity, a D.I.Y. lava lamp, and much more. Music and dance sequences were shared by the TAMIU Ballet Folkórico, TAMIU Spirit Cheer and Dance, with music including a Percussion, a Brass concert, a Single Reed Ensemble concerts, and more. The Ninth Annual Discover TAMIU will return to campus this April, 2023. 25
