PYLON, LONG A TAMIU BEACON, NOW SIGNALS NEW FUTURE The Texas A&M International University Entrance Pylon, a long-familiar campus fixture capped by an iconic globe, has served as a welcoming beacon to TAMIU for the past 27 years. It has marked our past and now signals our future. In partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation and the City of Laredo, this area now becomes part of Laredo’s dynamic growth with the conversion of Loop 20 into Laredo’s second interstate highway, IH-69 West. The University is proud to help lead this catalytic change. Elements of the pylon are being retained and will become part of the campus’ continued experience, welcoming new generations to TAMIU. 8
