UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS DUSTDEVIL ATHLETICS ’23 SETS LEGACIES ON/ OFF FIELD 2022-23 was a successful year for Dustdevil Athletics. The Department reached great heights with the volleyball team setting a program record for wins in a season, making the postseason for the first time since 2012 and earning its first postseason victory in the NCAA Era. Mauricio Figueroa of the Men’s Golf Team was also a highlight on the season. He placed third in the NCAA National Championship, was ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division II preseason, and earned NCAA Division II PING Second team All-American Honors. TAMIU’s 11 programs saw team grade point averages above a 3.0 and 25 student-athletes had a perfect 4.0 for the Fall semester. Some 98 Dustdevils were named to the Fall 2022 LSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll and 106 Dustdevils did so in the Spring semester. Baseball earned the school’s first win over a No. 1 ranked team when they defeated Angelo State 2-1 in April. Men’s Basketball came one win shy of qualifying for the LSC Tournament after winning 18 games and the Women’s Basketball season started the season with an 11-4 record -- including a six-game winning 25
