She graduated from TAMIU in May 2015 and attended dental school through 2018. She completed an Advanced General Dentistry Residency at UT Health San Antonio to further her clinical skills. Her Present: She has since purchased her own dental practice in San Antonio, Inwood Family Dental, and offers a range of in-house dental services from Botox for TMJ relief, dental surgery, IV dental sedation, Invisalign, cosmetic dentistry and more. She currently serves as a Director for the Board of the San Antonio District Dental Society, and is a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners. This year, she was nominated for the 2025 Texas New Dentist of The Year by the Texas Academy of General Dentistry. She previously served as a Director for the Board of the San Antonio Christian Dental Clinic and as a past-President for the Greater San Antonio Hispanic Dental Association. She and husband Ramón enjoy spending time raising their one-year-old daughter, traveling, and visiting with family, especially their grandparents. CHILE 2012 Selina Gutíerrez, (’15) credits TAMIU’s popular Reading the Globe Program with opening her eyes to a whole new world. “The Reading the Globe Program was the first opportunity I had as a young adult to travel internationally and step out of my comfort zone. The experience not only broadened my vision of the world educationally, but also culturally,” Gutíerrez recalled. And Gutíerrez’s experience set the stage for what would become an enduring family connection to Reading the Globe. “I am grateful for this ongoing program and the opportunity that was also given to my brother, Carlos Fuentes, and cousins, JC de los Santos and Rene Garza,” she explained. Gutíerrez said these shared experiences prompted her decision to give to and support Reading the Globe during Giving Days. “I look forward to continuing to support TAMIU for the great education I received, the excellent mentors, and the foundation that set me on a successful path today,” she said.
