Teaching
and Learning Principles in the Public School
Three semester hours
This
is an in-depth study of theories and principles with an emphasis
on child development and appropriate instructional strategies based
on current research and developmentally appropriate practices. Instructional
materials and multifaceted authentic assessment techniques in specific
content areas as specified in the TEKS for children PK-12 will be
emphasized. Students must earn a "C" or better to successfully
complete the course. Prerequisite: Admission to the College of Education;
must be taken in the first semester; this course may not be substituted
with other course; enrollment restricted to post-baccalaureate students
admitted in a program leading to teaching licensure.
