Dusty's Junior University Summer Camp 2019

Magic School Bus Campers will travel for two weeks out in space, be inside a volcano eruption, and dive under the sea to discover our marine life. Campers will get messy with their hands-on science activities. As Ms. Frizzle says, “Take chances! Make mistakes! Get messy!” Session 1, Block 1 Session 2, Block 1 Land of the Giants Let us go back in time where Dinosaurs once ruled the world. Campers will learn about dif- ferent types of dinosaurs, what they ate, where they lived. They will be reading stories, and watching episodes correlating with the topic. In our class, Dinosaurs will come alive! Session 1, Block 2 Session 2, Block 2 Fun at the Beach Let’s go to the Beach! Campers will vacation at the beach for two weeks in this class. During their vacation, students will learn about differ- ent types of birds and marine life living there. While participating in daily activities, campers will expand their knowledge of the fragility of marine life and how to protect it. You will need your shades for this class! Session 1, Block 3 Session 2, Block 3 It’s a Fiesta! Campers will learn about the Hispanic culture. They will make traditional crafts, such as, piña- tas and maracas. They will also learn Spanish vocabulary words, while having fun. Every day is a party as we learn about the different types of fiestas in Hispanic culture. Campers will indulge in the food, clothes, and music of the Hispanic world. No passport needed for this Fiesta! Session 1, Block 2 Session 2, Block 2 Building Gardeners Campers will learn about a variety of plants and the importance they have in our survival. They will also have the opportunity to grow their own plant and watch it develop through- out the days. Campers will learn how to be responsible for watering their plant daily and helping it grow Campers will become botanists at the end of Camp! It will be PLANTtastic! Session 1, Block 3 Session 2, Block 3 Galaxy Wars “To infinity and beyond!” Campers will explore the galaxy, and learn about the stars and planets. Campers will gain insight about what astronauts do in their daily lives. Specifically campers will learn the won- ders and mysteries behind a black hole! Videos will be shown to enhance knowledge. Session 3, Block 1 Session 4, Block 1 Super Heroes Campers will have the opportunity to learn about different superheroes. Thursdays they will be able to show off their favorite superhero by dressing up, and acting their role. They will talk about the uniqueness and history of each Marvel or DC superheroes! Session 3, Block 2 Session 4, Block 2 Little Picassos Campers will be able to experience different types of painting and drawing. They will be able to work with watercolor, acrylic paint, and pastels. Campers will learn how to combine primary colors with secondary colors to create a tertiary color. Session 1, Block 4 Session 2, Block 4 Session 3, Block 4 Session 4, Block 4 1ST AND 2ND GRADE
