Internship Program

Each internship will support selected junior and senior students for 10 hours per week for up to two years. Each recipient should be enrolled in the General Science 7-12 Teacher Certification Program. Each student will ideally participate in the TAMIU Summer Science Boot Camp prior to their acceptance into the internship program; all Weekend Exemplary Teacher Preparation Workshops, and the TAMIU Summer Education PPR Boot Camp. Interns will be assigned to one review session per semester. Each year interns will design and implement a hands on activity for Discover TAMIU. To apply log in to Workday using your SSO and search for Student Intern (General Science).

Eligibility requirements for Internship

  1. Students must have finished their sophomore year
  2. Must be a U.S. Citizen or nationals, or permanent resident aliens.
  3. Preferably be a full-time student
  4. Submit official transcript with minimum overall GPA of 2.75
  5. Submit two letters of recommendation
  6. Must submit resume and essay
  7. Must attend interview if selected
  8. Must switch major to general science 7-12 teacher certification degree
