Dean's Message DR. JAMES O' MEARA, ED.D. Today, we recognize you as one of our outstanding graduates who has achieved success in the face of uncertainty. Today I challenge you to "Go Beyond" and be the change-makers we need to make a world of difference in your schools and the communities they serve. ¡Lo que bien se aprende, nunca se pierde! Most of you have heard me talk about you as professionals RISE-ing. Tonight I want to remind you that in the College of Education we know that we rise by lifting others. Each of you have had someone who has given you a hand up when you most need it. I invite you to share your Pin of Grat it ude wit h t hat special person. Blue is the color of Education, and it is important to celebrate all of our undergraduate rising professionals who have successfully reached the milestone of graduation from our educator preparation program. V.O.E. CORD Undergraduate students who recieve a red, green and white cord, represents the Ventanilla de Orientación Educativa collboration with the Consulate General of México in Laredo in which students who went above and beyond in partcipating in various events and projects throughout their academic years. DEAN'S CORD Undergraduate students who receive a blue,white and maroon cord, are students are one and done with their Texas certification exam and have passed the Pedagogy & Professional Responsibilities for four standard teaching certificate (PPR).

PINS OF ACHIEVEMENT PIN OF GRATITUDE PIN OF COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE PIN OF PPR-DISTRICT READY PIN OF WETEACH LAREDO The Pin of Gratitude provides each graduate with an opportunity to say, "thank you" to someone who helped make their graduation a reality. We invite graduates to share the pin with that special person prior to Commencement so they can wear it during the Commencement ceremony. The Sí Se Puede Pin serves as recognition of your perseverance, adaptability, and commitment to excellence in becoming a new generation of leaders and change-makers in your community. The PPR-District Ready pin is awarded to serve as recognition of your success in passing the Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities for four standard teaching certificate. The We Teach Laredo pin is given to students who meet the accomplishments of passing their certification exams and went above and beyond the standard teaching certificate requirements. PIN OF VENTANILLA DE ORIENTACIóN EDUCATIVA The V.O.E. pin is awarded to those who provided 50 or more hours of significant volunteer service in helping members of Mexican and Hispanic communities navigate the educational systems of the United States and México as part of the Ventanilla de Orientación Educativa program with the Mexican Consulate General in Laredo
