TAMIU Fall 2019 Commencement Program

DISTINGUISHEDSTUDENT SCHOLARS Aileen Karina Rendón College of Nursing and Health Sciences Aileen Karina Rendón is the daughter of Karina González and granddaughter of Irma and Laurencio González. She graduated from John B. Alexander High School in 2016.Today, she earns her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences’ Dr. F. M. Canseco School of Nursing. While at TAMIU, she was part of the Student Philanthropy Council, served as historian and community service chairman for the Student Nurses’ Association, and traveled to South Korea and China as a Reading the Globe Ambassador. She is a recipient of The Sanchez Family Foundation Scholarship and the Patricia Killam Hurd Nursing Scholarship. Aileen has completed over 350 community service hours, partnering with the City of Laredo Health Department, United Independent School District, and the Laredo Animal Care Facility. She is an active Iglesia Cristiana Misericordia member. Upon graduation, Aileen will serve her community as an Intensive Care Unit Nurse. She plans to return to TAMIU and enroll in the Advance Nursing Education Sexual Assault Nursing Examiner Program and pursue a Doctorate of Nursing Practice. Genesis Vera is the daughter of Rigoberto López and Teresa Martínez, wife of Oliver Vera, and mother of Ximena Grace Vera.Today, she earns her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, graduating summa cum laude with a 3.949 GPA. While a student at TAMIU, Genesis traveled to Malaga, Spain as part of a Study Abroad program. She served as president of the Building on Legacy student organization and was a member of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. Upon graduation, she plans to begin her professional career as an accountant while pursuing her longtime goal of opening her own café restaurant. Genesis Vera A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business
