TAMIU Fall 2023 Commencement Program

DISTINGUISHED STUDENT SCHOLARS Juliane Perez College of Nursing and Health Sciences Originally from Laredo, Juliane is the daughter of Ana Laura and Omar Perez. She attended Early College at Lyndon B. Johnson High School. Today, she earns a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.8. While a student at TAMIU, Juliane was a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and continuously offered support to TAMIU Gives. She participated in internship opportunities with the Laredo Health Department as well as CASA-VOZ de Niños. She joined community service efforts with Food Banks and Laredo donation drives. She received TAMIU’s Discovery Scholarship and was named to the Dean’s List. Upon graduation, Juliane plans to begin her public health career working for the City of Laredo. After obtaining her dream job in community outreach, she intends to pursue a graduate degree. Karyme Castillo Castro A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business Originally from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, México, Karyme is the daughter of María and Sabin Castillo. In 2020, she graduated from St. Augustine High School in the top 10 percent of her class. Today, she completes her Bachelor of Business Administration with concentrations in Marketing and Management and certificates in Business Leadership and Entrepreneurship. She graduates Cum Laude with a 3.67 GPA. While a student at TAMIU, Karyme was a member of the University Honors Program, the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, president and founder of the International Student Business Network, and served on the Texas Community Bank Honorary Junior Board of Directors. She also worked as a Student Data Assistant for TAMIU’s Texas Center of Border Economic and Enterprise Development. Karyme is a Discovery Scholarship recipient and participated in the Western Hemispheric Trade Conference, earning the Best Paper by an Undergraduate Student Award. She received the 2023 Honors Student of the Year Award, is a Golden Circle Award winner, and appeared on the Dean’s List and Honor Roll. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue an MBA to enhance her professional career as a marketing strategist. Karyme’s long-term goal is to venture into entrepreneurship by founding and managing a marketing agency.
