TAMIU Spring 2024 Commencement Program

DISTINGUISHED STUDENT SCHOLARS Sophia M. Reyes College of Nursing and Health Sciences Originally from Laredo, Sophia M. Reyes is the daughter of Alexis and Victor Reyes. She graduated from United High School in May 2021. Today, she earns a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Pre-Physical/Occupational Therapy, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a 3.813 GPA. While a student at TAMIU, Sophie was a member of the Student Philanthropy Council, International Student Mentor Program, the Pre-Physical Therapy Society, and the TAMIU Dance Team. She also participated in community service events like Make a Difference Day and The Big Event. She received recognition for her community service at the Celebration of Community Engagement and The Emerging Leaders Celebration. Upon graduation, Sophie plans to pursue Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Her longtime goal is to be financially stable and to give back to her family. Roberto Rivera A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business Originally from Zapata, Roberto Rene Rivera is the son of Jesús and Verónica Rivera. He attended Zapata High School. Today, he earns a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a 3.85 GPA. While a student at TAMIU, Roberto was a member of the Texas Community Bank Honorary Junior Board of Directors, and the Association of Latino Professionals for America. He was also a recipient of the A.R. Sanchez, Jr. Family Foundation Scholarship and was named to the Dean’s List twice. Upon graduation, Roberto plans to pursue a Master’s degree in International Banking and Finance. His long-term goal is to pursue a career in Finance and become a licensed Financial Advisor.
