Accessibility Plan 25 The Texas A&M International University P lan for A ccessibility C ompliance of O nline and H ybrid C ourses (further known as “The Plan”) was accepted by the Distance Education Information Technology Committee (DEITC) in September 2016 and was approved with amendments at the April 2017 meeting. The Plan incorporates federal policy, S tate guidelines and Texas A&M University System regulations with regard s to persons with disabilities, and the use of Electronic and Information Resources (EIR). The Plan outlines TAMIU practices already in place, including trainings and services. It also lists several recommendations, including continued collaboration with sister A&M institutions to share resources ensuring forward progress with respect to accessibility. 272 employees have completed the Accessibility Matters trainings at TAMIU. In an effort to assist faculty with captions and transcripts for their audio/video needs, the Office of Distance Education and Instructional Technology has devised different technologies. We have processes in place for these types of media: Films on Demand Cassette Tapes VHS Tapes All Types of DVDs YouTube TED Talks Echo 360 Lecture Capture Captioning process: Our captioning process takes between one and four business days, depending on the length and quality of the original item provided.
