Housing & Residence Life

Administrative Staff

Mirasol Tabarez

Campus Office: Residential Learning Community

Director since April 2015, Ms. Tabarez is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the department's operations.  Prior to becoming director Ms. Tabarez served for seven years as our assistant director responsible for residence life.  As director Ms. Tabarez provides leadership and direction for a consolidated campus housing operation comprised of 686 beds.  Responsible for the total operation of the student housing program Ms. Tabarez has successfully implemented a number of new initiatives leading to increased occupancy, increased revenues and reduced expenses for the housing program.  Ms. Tabarez is primarily responsible for university relations and has conducted outreach activities and established collaborative events with other campus offices/divisions to develop the credibility and legitimacy of the housing program.

Ms. Tabarez first joined the Office of Housing & Residence Life as our staff bookkeeper and excelled in this position, restoring confidence amoung our residents that their accounts were being managed well.  This success led to her promotion to assistant director in March 2008, and the challenge to revitalize the program.  Mirasol ultimately has built a residence life program that is established in sound student development theory, fun, and respected on campus.  Ms. Tabarez is also our chief customer service agent and oversees our customer service efforts and relationships with many University offices that help the department deliver unparralled service to residents.

Originally from San Francisco, CA, Ms. Tabarez lived for 10 years in Mexico and brings a great international background to our department. She is a supporter of international education and has encouraged the efforts many student staff members to pursue a study abroad experience.  Ms. Tabarez is married and has three children and two grandchildren.
