‘Angels’ Concert, Exhibit
at TAMIU Sunday, Dec. 9

Treat yourself as a patron of the arts with “Angels Among Us: A Celebration of the Season,” a concert and art exhibit Sunday, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. in the Texas A&M International University Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA).

Tickets will be on sale at the door for $10.

Proceeds will benefit student scholarships in the University's fine and performing arts programs.

“José Rubén de León will start the musical aspect of the program in the CFPA Recital Hall. The program will feature local vocalists, Joe Arcinega, baritone, Diana Ortiz, soprano, local music teacher Alejandra Rodríguez on piano and TAMIU’s Mariko Morita on organ,” said Bede Leyendecker, department of fine and performing arts interim chair.

“After the program, guests will be invited up to the CFPA Gallery for an art exhibit by Guadalajara artist Danilo López featuring his sculptures depicting the Virgin Mary,” Leyendecker added.

The program includes Advent, Marian and traditional Christmas songs. Among the featured songs are music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Philip Nicolai, “O Come, O Come Emanuel,” by Thomas Helmore, “Ave Maria” by Charles-Francois Gounod, “Silent Night” by Franz X. Gruber, “What Child is This?” by William Chatterton Dix, “O Holy Night” by Adolphe Adam and other traditional carols.
