TAMIU Art Exhibit ‘Marc Burckhardt: Narratives’ Opening Reception March 7

Nationally acclaimed artist Marc Burckhardt will showcase his artwork during an upcoming exhibit self-titled, “Marc Burckhardt: Narratives” at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU). 

The exhibit’s opening reception is Thursday, March 7 from 5 – 7 p.m. at TAMIU’s Center for the Fine and Performing Arts’ Gallery. Admission to the reception and exhibit is free and open to the public. The artist talk and exhibit is provided with partial support from the Texas Commission on the Arts.

Burckhardt’s artwork brings together both a traditional visual aesthetic coupled with themes of the 21st Century. His works delve into and explore current events while encouraging individuals to contemplate the contemporary world.

His artwork has been commissioned by international companies and media groups such as Gucci, Porsche, TIME Magazine, Rolling Stone, The New York Times, and Penguin Random House, to name a few.  

He has created official portraits for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Ceremonies. Burckhardt’s paintings currently reside in the collections of Ralph Lauren, Oprah Winfrey, Emily Proctor, Patricia Arquette and the late Johnny Cash.

His work has won numerous awards from the Society of Illustrators and Cannes Lion, as well as a Grammy for Best Limited-Edition Box Set Packaging for "The Legend: Johnny Cash." 

The exhibit is on display through Thursday, April 11.

Gallery hours are Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment.
