Thursday, March 28, 2019 from 1:00-2:30PM (STC: 236) --Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honor Society at TAMIU, hosts an academic event, "Gender Studies in the Disciplines."   It will include talks by Dr. Ula Klein, Dr. Kathryn Klein, and Dr. María Reyes. The panelists will discuss what gender studies is and how it helps shape their research.

Gender studies as a discipline was an outgrowth of Women's Studies, which itself originated with the Women's Rights Movement of the 1970s. Both Women's Studies and Gender Studies focus on the ways in which men and women's lives are impacted by patriarchal socialization, and these areas of study have contributed to the popularization of studying women in history, but also in other disciplines.
