TAMIU Continuing Education Offers October Enrichment Classes Ranging from Ceramics to Sign Language

Texas A&M International University’s(TAMIU) Office of Continuing Education will offer various enrichment classes and workshops to the public from October to December, ranging from Ceramics, Dyslexia information and Painting to Two-step Dancing, Sign Language and Advanced Educational Leadership.

The Ceramics class will be offered from Wednesday, Oct. 2- Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Class registration is $375.  Dr. Martie Geiger-Ho, TAMIU visiting assistant professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, department of Fine and Performing Arts, will guide new and continuing artisans in the art of ceramics and participants will be able to manipulate clay into cups, bowls and other permanent, functional and decorative creations.

Also offered will be a Dyslexia Workshop on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 6 - 7:30 p.m. The Workshop is free and open to the public. Workshop speaker is Daphne Corder, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Education Advocate.

For those who enjoy sipping a glass of wine while painting, a Paint & Sip Class will be offered Thursday, Oct. 3 from 6 - 8:30 p.m. in the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center lobby. Class registration is $40.

Learning Western Two-Step is also an option with the Giddy-Up Two-Step Lessons offered by instructor Karina Murillo. The class will be Wednesday, Oct. 2 – Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 6 - 8 p.m. All levels are welcome. Registration is $75.

Another offering is the Sign Language Workshop, which will be on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Workshop instructor is Frank Ramírez. Class registration is $75. Participants must know the American Sign Language alphabet prior to class.

Also offered in October will be an Advanced Educational Leadership class. It is a three-day, State-developed training designed to prepare school leaders with the knowledge and tools necessary for instructional leadership. It will be from Friday - Sunday, Oct. 11 – 13, and will be taught by Dr. Stephen Benigno, TAMIU assistant professor in the College of Education, Department of Educational Programs. Class registration is $375 and includes a certificate.
