Texas A&M International University’s Small Business Development Center (TAMIU SBDC) will offer a presentation for aspiring small business owners titled, “How to Start Your Own Business” Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 8:30-11 a.m. in Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 126.

The presentation, free and open to the public, will explore what it takes to be an entrepreneur, said Michael González, TAMIU SBDC director.

“Future business owners will learn about business and marketing plans, financing options, as well as resources TAMIU SBDC offers,” he said.

Presentation topics include reasons to start a business, legal structure selection, licenses and permits, business planning, marketing strategies and financing choices, González explained.

The TAMIU SBDC provides various impactful services and education for those in the small business community and those who aspire to be in one, González said.

“That said, many times business owners and aspiring business owners just don’t know where to start,” he said, “This course, provided at no cost to the community, will directly address this critical need.”

González continued, “We encourage everyone interested in starting a small business to attend this presentation so that they can learn how to build their business and how TAMIU SBDC can assist them in the process,” he said.

Those interested in registering for the presentation should contact the TAMIU SBDC at 956.326.2827 or email sbdc@tamiu.edu.
