TAMIU Recital Features Classical Pianist Kim Oct. 11

Internationally-acclaimed classical pianist Dr. Jooyoung Kim will perform during an upcoming guest piano recital Friday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU).

Admission to the recital is free and open to the community.

Known for her musicianship and exquisite artistry, Kim, a native of South Korea, has been performing since making her debut as a soloist with the Korean Symphony Orchestra at the age of 12. She has performed across the world in both solo and chamber recitals in France, Germany, Japan, Spain, Russia and more.

Notable concert series featuring Kim include performances alongside the Yonsei Sinfonietta, the Yale University Symphony Orchestra, and the Ball State Symphony Orchestra. She has performed at various colleges and universities across the country including Anderson University, Indiana Wesleyan University, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, South Texas College and Texas A&M University-Kingsville, among others.

The winner of various national and international competitions, Kim has taken top accolades at the Joong-Ang National Music Competition, the Yonsei Debut Award, the Indianapolis Matinee Musicale Competition, the International Beethoven Piano Sonata Competition, the Taneeve International Chamber Ensemble Competition and many more.

Kim currently serves as a lecturer at the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley. She has previously held faculty positions at Indiana Wesleyan University, Indiana University East and Indiana University Kokomo. Kim holds degrees from Yonsei University, Universität der Künste Berlin, and Ball State University.
