Since the summer, the Laredo Philharmonic has been reaching out to the community to have 40 of its local musicians “Adopted.” So far, 34 of the 40 local musicians are adopted, said Brendan Townsend, music director.

“The deadline to reach our 40 X 40 goal is Thursday, December 12 in order to have every one of the local musicians adopted. The support of the community is needed to get those final six musicians adopted,” he said.

Townsend explained the “adoption” process.

“To adopt a musician, simply visit our website, www.laredophil.com for details. A Principle musician adoption (the 1stchair of each section) seeks a donation of $500, while Section musicians are $250. Since this is a fundraising initiative, all donations are fully tax deductible,” he confirmed.

All adopters will be invited to meet their adoptee at the home of Laredo College President, Dr. Ricardo Solis, at a reception for those providing financial support to the Laredo Philharmonic.

The next concert in the Laredo Phil's 40th Anniversary Season is Sunday, Dec.15  at 3 p.m. in the Texas A&M International University Recital Hall.  It will be a musical Christmas Celebration featuring the Nutcracker Suite, Sleigh Ride and more. Tickets are available online from the Orchestra’s website.

For more information, visit the Orchestra’s website, www.laredophil.com or call the general manager Ange Townsend at 956.236.4463.
