Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) assistant professor of Printmaking Jesse Shaw is joined by TAMIU art students Julian Martínez and Christian Terrazas for a special limited art exhibition at Laredo’s downtown Center for the Arts. The exhibit’s opening reception is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 13 from 6 – 8 p.m.

Admission is free of charge and open to the public.

The exhibit is also open for viewing Saturday, Dec. 14 and Tuesday, Dec. 17 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Center for the Arts.

TAMIU art students Julian Martínez and Christian Terrazas worked with professor Shaw throughout this Fall semester to create their own body of work using skill sets acquired as his research assistants. Both assisted in the research, development, and fabrication of Shaw’s installation work for this exhibition.

Shaw said the exhibit theme seeks to capture the tense and tentative time and space people today seem to share.

“We seemingly live in an ever-increasing world of uncertainty. The uncertainty we face is both collective and individual. Our uncertainty can be economic, environmental, mental, national, personal, political, or religious. Each artist in this show has interpreted the idea of uncertainty in their print-based works,” Shaw explained.

TAMIU’s ACT on IDEAs Research Assistantship Program made support for this initiative possible.
