Musical Trio Performs at TAMIU Master Performers Concert Jan. 27

Spend the evening enjoying classical jazz music during an upcoming Master Performers concert featuring the Bill Molenhof Trio, Monday, Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Texas A&M International University's (TAMIU)  Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.

Admission is free and open to the public.

During the concert, the trio will perform a selection of classical song selections including “S’Wonderful” by George Gershwin, “Arabesque #1 Excerpt” by Claude Debussy, “Windows” by Chick Corea, “Love for Sale” by Cole Porter and more. 

The trio is made up of percussionist Bill Molenhof, vocalist and pianist María Guala, and jazz bassist Karl Kaminski.

At 21 years of age, Molenhof was invited to teach at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. During this time, he performed alongside acclaimed musicians James Williams and Pat Metheny. His first collection of solo pieces titled “Music of the Day” has been reprinted ten times and is one of the most successful of its kind.

Molenhof has performed internationally, throughout Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Russia and more. He has also performed on network television and radio broadcasts for CBS, NBC, and NPR. He has previously served as a faculty member at Ithaca College and Temple University. Currently, he serves on the music faculty at Hochschule für Musik in Nuernberg, Germany.

Maria Guala
María Guala

Guala is the third generation of Argentinian musicians in her family. She began playing piano at the age of three and continued her studies alongside noted instructors Menahem Pressler, Kenny Werner, and Douglas Yates.

She has performed at the Lincoln Center and the Argentine Embassy in New York City. Additionally, she has performed as an artist on several tours throughout North America. She currently serves as the Head of Piano Studies at the Argentine National Institute of Arts in Patagonia, Argentina.

Karl Kaminski
Karl Kaminski

Kaminski has performed throughout the U.S., Japan, and the Caribbean alongside acclaimed musicians Carlos Franzetti, Roger Holland, Elvin Jones, and more.

He has authored several instructional music books. His most recent publications have included composition work alongside Earth, Wind and Fire members, Bootsy Collins and Verdine White.

The Master Performer Series is offered by the TAMIU College of Arts and Sciences, department of Fine and Performing Arts.
