On Thursday March 12, 2020 the Laredo Philharmonic will hold a Bowl-a-Thon at Jett Bowl North. This fun evening of bowling is part of ongoing fund-raising activities by the Laredo Phil to fund the remainder of its 2020 concert season.

“You don’t necessarily have to like Beethoven to bowl, just come out and enjoy an evening of bowling while supporting worthy cause,” said LPO Board President Judy Kilburn.

Jett  Bowl North owner, Cookie Vela, says that there many avid bowlers in Laredo more than happy to get involved in a tournament.

“Bowling has a long tradition in Laredo going back well into the days of the old Air Force base,” she said, adding “Throughout the years bowlers have raised funds for many organizations while indulging their favorite hobby.”

Bowling for Beethoven is a fundraiser for the Laredo Philharmonic. On Sunday, April19, The Laredo Phil  will perform the iconic 4th Piano Concerto of Beethoven.

Cost of a lane is $125 for teams of 5. There will be trophies for the three top teams and overall male and female top scorers.

There are additional opportunities for local businesses to sponsor teams which can be found on WWW.LAREDOPHIL.COM or by calling the events’ organizers, Nancy DeAnda (956) 763-9960 or Judy Kilburn (956) 693-1445.

“I am a terrible bowler so no one needs to be challenged by me,” said Music Director Brendan Townsend, “but I am passionate about Beethoven and keeping great live music in our city, so I’ll suffer the humiliation!”
