A gift of languages might be the perfect gift for that special someone on your holiday list.

Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) Office of Continuing Education is offering virtual introductory conversational language courses in French and Italian as part of its Personal Enrichment Series at TAMIU this Spring 2021.

The courses are led by TAMIU’s award-winning faculty member Dr. Lola Norris, associate professor of Spanish and Translation in the College of Arts and Sciences, department of  Humanities.

A world traveler well-versed in multiple languages, she will share her passion for French and Italian by guiding students towards the ultimate goal of mastering basic conversations.

“I encourage people to consider this virtual opportunity to indulge in learning conversational phrases, greetings and other words in French or Italian. These phrases and greetings will come in handy for future travelers or simply those lovers of learning. New information will also be covered such as family, describing things and people, shopping, types of clothing, sightseeing, geography, customs and basic grammar. No experience is necessary and all materials are included,” Dr. Norris said.

Cost of each course is $249.  The classes will be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays online beginning Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021 through Thursday, Feb. 2, 2021. French is offered from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. and Italian from 6:45 – 7:45 p.m.
