Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Dr. F. M. Canseco School of Nursing has been ranked among the best United States nursing schools of 2020 by Nursing Schools Almanac.

The Almanac collected data on more than 3,000 universities, selecting 20% for its best nursing schools in each geographic region.

TAMIU’s Canseco School of Nursing was ranked 53rd out of 80 universities in the South West Region and 39th out of 75 Texas universities ranked.

Quantitative measures considered included the universities’ academic prestige and perceived value; the breadth and depth of nursing programs offered and student success, particularly on the NCLEX licensure examination.

TAMIU Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Dr. Marivic B. Torregosa, said the rankings underscore the School’s commitment to rigor and quality enhancement.

“I attribute our ranking to many factors. These include our rigorous admission standards and academic policies. We use standardized measures to evaluate our courses and student clinical performance, which informs curriculum change. Our nursing faculty is always modifying our nursing programs so that they may  improve and stay relevant to the populations we serve. Lastly, the success of our program is grounded in the dedication of our faculty and our students who share a tight focus on excellence.

Nursing Schools Almanac aims to provide aspiring nurses a detailed, comprehensive, and analytical resource for selecting their future nursing school. Integral to that effort is its annual rankings of the best nursing schools in the country.  The rankings are available online at https://www.nursingschoolsalmanac.com
