A $112,500 grant from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s Texas Reskilling Support Fund Grant Program  can provide support to Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) students returning to complete their degree this Summer or Fall.

Scheiby González Fisher, TAMIU executive director of Outreach and Pre-College Programs, said the program helps get students back on track to graduate with a degree enabling them to return to and succeed in the workforce.

“This program targets both displaced Texas workers who need to reskill or upskill to move quickly back into the workforce and students who have previously stopped out of higher education institutions without completing a postsecondary credential ( Bachelor’s degree).

“Students must not have enrolled in an accredited postsecondary institution in the previous academic semester and must be within 12 months of completing their degree.  We know there are a number of former TAMIU students that could be helped by this program, and we’re encouraging them to explore this with us,” González Fisher said.

Students can receive a scholarship to help pay tuition and fees between $500 and $2,500 per semester/term for the Summer and Fall 2021 semesters.

Interested students can apply by visiting: go.tamiu.edu/reskill

TAMIU’s Summer classes begin Tuesday, June 1, 2021. González Fisher provided program criteria for consideration.

“In order to be considered, returning TAMIU students must have filed a FAFSA application, have financial need, and affirm they were affected by COVID-19,” she noted.
