This Fall at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), degree-seeking students will be the lucky beneficiaries of a pilot program providing all TAMIU required textbooks and course materials -- free of charge.

TAMIU president Dr. Pablo Arenaz said the pilot, dubbed “TAMIU Books IncludED,” offers students and their families substantial savings, provides access to books and course materials on day one of classes, and champions TAMIU students’ journeys to success.

“If you have access, you have success.  If you have less stress, you have more success.  We’ve worked  with our higher education partner, Follett, to provide this remarkable opportunity.  For this pilot year, we will cover the fees for required  course materials for our enrolled, degree-seeking students, including online students,” Dr. Arenaz said.

“This pilot program is made possible through funding from the CRRSA and ARP Acts  and offers  incredible academic support to help students overcome barriers that have arisen as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic and that may otherwise prevent them from completing their education,” Arenaz noted.

TAMIU Books IncludED delivers course materials to students in multiple formats, including E-book (digital), open educational resources, and print.  Students who opt not to receive free digital textbook and course materials will be able to purchase physical materials.

“We believe this opportunity provides students with a great advantage.  Book costs are historically a burden for students. This pilot program offers parents and students substantial savings while providing  the accessibility students need and in most cases, prefer.  The savings students will realize can be redirected to other needs or resources,” Arenaz concluded.
