To better assist currently enrolled students, Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) now offers tutoring services seven days a week through its extended hours of operation.

These academic support services are available Monday – Thursday, from 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Saturday, noon – 4 p.m.; and Sunday, noon – 10 p.m.

To take advantage of these tutoring services, students can visit Dr. Billy F. Cowart Hall, rooms 203 and 205. Before visiting, students are encouraged to make an appointment by emailing academic.support@tamiu.edu or by calling 956.326.4223.

By offering these extensive services, students have access to additional opportunities for success, affirmed Dr. Barbara Hong, University College dean.

“Academic support is open seven days a week and operates as late as 10 p.m. We want to ensure students, both undergraduate and graduate, have ample access to free tutoring, especially on the weekends. We know how important it is for students to find the right ambiance so they can concentrate and sustain their learning habits. Where else is a better place to study than on our TAMIU campus at ACE,” Hong reiterated.

Currently, tutoring services are available for students seeking assignment assistance on biology, chemistry, history, mathematics, writing and more. Services are available either in-person or virtually.

For in-person sessions, students should arrive within 15 minutes of their appointment. For virtual sessions, students should check their student email for instructions on joining a Microsoft Teams session.

Additionally, virtual, peer-led supplemental instruction (SI) sessions are offered through Blackboard Collaborate. Led by trained SI leaders, these sessions use collaborative activities to promote student success. To learn more, visit https://www.tamiu.edu/uc/ace/si.shtml

Through ACE, University students can access both academic support services, as well as advising and retention services. These services help ensure that students have access to the resources needed to complete their degrees on time. All current, full and part-time students, whether undergraduate or graduate, can receive free tutoring and supplemental instruction.
