Forward-thinking prospective Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) freshmen students planning their degree destination for 2022 and 2023 now have one less concern:  TAMIU is waiving ACT and SAT score requirements for admission.

While these entrance exam scores are waived, automatic admission to TAMIU is only guaranteed to students graduating in the top 40 percent of their class.

Students who are not in the top 40 percent of their class and have never taken either the SAT or ACT are encouraged to reach out to the University’s Office of Recruitment and School Relations. Contact them directly at 956.326.2270 or via email at enroll@tamiu.edu.

“Waiving the SAT and ACT requirement allows prospective students the opportunity to be reviewed for admissions using additional criteria, such as TSI (Texas Success Initiative). It also allows us the opportunity, as an institution, to quickly adapt and efficiently provide our prospective students with alternative opportunities for admissions,” explained Jessica Treviño, director of Recruitment and School Relations.

Treviño noted that TAMIU joins other higher education institutions across the country who are also waiving the score requirements.

“We believe that this helps to encourage all students and their families to consider the extensive options available to them here at TAMIU.  Waiving these score requirements is just one more way we can help students to truly Go Beyond,” Treviño observed.

Prospective students are still required to submit their admissions application through GoApplyTexas.org, their high school transcript(s), and any additional necessary documentation.

As part of its response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, TAMIU had previously waived the requirement for admission for 2020 and 2021 applicants.
