Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) has announced that the planned Tuesday, January 18 start date for the Spring Semester 2022 has been postponed to Monday, Jan. 24.

TAMIU president Dr. Pablo Arenaz explained the change.

“In light of the continued ramifications of the COVID-19 Pandemic and the Omicron Variant surge in the Laredo community, we will delay the start of the Spring Semester face to face (F2F) classes until Monday, Jan. 24.    Online classes will begin delivery as scheduled Tuesday, Jan. 18. All University offices and services will remain open and available as they have been since Jan. 4.

“Late registration will be extended through Friday, Jan. 28.  The new payment deadline to avoid late fees is now Friday, Jan. 21. Late start courses (Flex Term Two) previously scheduled to begin Monday, Feb. 7 will now begin Wednesday, Feb. 9.

“We encourage all members of our campus and Laredo community to continue testing and use of recommended face coverings/masks, in addition to practicing distancing and rigorous hand-washing.  The best defense continues to be vaccination and boosters, both of which are offered on campus every Wednesday in the Student Center Rotunda,” Arenaz noted.
