TAMIU Celebrates Women's History Month


Texas A&M International University invites the public to attend several free events presented at TAMIU throughout March in observance of Women's History Month.

The TAMIU Women's History Month schedule includes:

Thursday, March 3 - Dance Demonstration at noon in the Student Center Rotunda.

Tuesday, March 8 - International Women's Day brownbag lecture featuring Judith Warner: "The Women Warriors" at 1 p.m. in the Western Hemispheric Trade Center (WHTC), room 103.

Thursday, March 10 - Brownbag lecture with Dr. Mehnaaz Momen: "Globalization and Patriarchy" at 1 p.m. in WHTC 103.

Monday, March 14 - Brownbag recital: "In Women's Words" at noon in WHTC 103.

Wednesday, March 16 - Brownbag film discussion: "The Women of Juarez" from noon - 2 p.m. in WHTC 104.

Thursday, March 17 - "Tres Vidas" workshop from noon to 2 p.m. at WHTC 111 and performance at 7:30 p.m. at the Laredo Center for the Arts. "Tres Vidas" is a chamber music theatre work conceived and performed by The Core Ensemble featuring Georgina Corbo as Frida Kahlo, Rufina Amaya and Alfonsina Storni.

Monday, March 28 - Recital by Sylvia Hazlerig at 7:30 p.m. at the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall (CFPA).

Tuesday, March 29 - Brownbag lecture: "Women Composers" with Sylvia Hazlerig at noon in the CFPA Sam Johnson Black Box Theater.
