TAMIU Economic Impact Analysis FY 2021

TAMIU AND THE WEBB COUNTY ECONOMY This economic impact studymeasures the contribution ofTexasA&MInternational University (TAMIU) to the Webb County economy. This analysis aims to provide a complete and credible assessment of the economic impact of Webb County’s largest higher education provider. The study calculates how spending by TAMIU, its employees, students, and alums contributes to the dynamism of Webb County. It analyzes how these expenditures produce an additional impact on the economy of Webb County. The analysis makes use of the information provided by the TAMIU Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA), Vice President of Institutional Advancement (VPIA), Vice President for Student Success (VPSS), and Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), as well as data gathered from the Texas Higher Education Coordination Board (THECB), U.S. Census, and IMPLAN for Fiscal Year 2021. This section gives an overview of TAMIU and Webb County through the institutional data that was the basis for this analysis. TAMIU EMPLOYEES The data provided by TAMIU includes employee information for factuly and full and part-time staff. The data is shown in Table 1.1. The University employed 570 full-time employees, 630 part-time employees, and 294 faculty members in FY21. All of these employees worked and lived in Webb County.
