Dusty Camps Bring Important
TAMIU Orientation Experience

The Fall semester at Texas A&M International University is just around the corner and new students and first-time freshmen are reminded of mandatory participation in New Student Orientation, Dusty Camp, scheduled June 30-July 1, July 14-15, August 4-5 and Aug. 15-16. The first Dusty Camp was held June 15-16.

“The Dusty Camp experience focuses on giving students information that sets the stage for a timely and purposeful transition to University life,” said Miguel Treviño, associate director of Student Affairs.

“This is a required overnight program for all first-time entering TAMIU freshmen and designed to give them the necessary tools to be successful as they begin their TAMIU studies,” he explained.

“Students have the opportunity to meet fellow classmates, learn about expectations, campus navigation, and spend the night at TAMIU to absorb University life to its fullest. The experience also enables them to learn how to be successful during the first year and beyond,” Treviño noted.

The experience is also available as an option to TAMIU parents with Parent and Family Orientation scheduled June 30, July 14 and Aug. 4 and 15.

It provides an excellent opportunity for parents to connect with both University administrators and other parents and learn about TAMIU’s various support programs and services available to all students, Treviño said.

Online registration is available at http://www.tamiu.edu/studentaffairs/newstudent.shtml
