Auditions for ‘The Nutcracker’
at TAMIU Saturday, Aug. 16

Auditions for the chance to perform alongside Mejia’s International professional cast in the upcoming Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) production of Peter Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 16 from 3 – 7 p.m. in the TAMIU Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.

Children ages 5 – 17 are needed to fill in the roles of mice, angels, toys, French bonbons, soldiers, Russian hoops, and for the party scene.

Times for auditions are: girls 5 - 8 (mice, angels and toys) -- 3 to 4 p.m.; girls 9 - 12 (party scene, French bonbons, soldiers), 4 - 5 p.m.; girls 13 - 17 (big mice, Russian hoops, soldiers), 5 - 6 p.m; boys 8 - 12 (party scene): 6 - 7 p.m.

Dancers should arrive 30 minutes prior to audition start time and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Girls should wear a black leotard with pink tights and pink ballet shoes and hair should be worn in a bun. Boys should wear a white T-shirt and black tights or shorts with white socks and black ballet shoes.
