Welcome to Fitness & Recreational Programs. Our goal is to provide our TAMIU community with various options to manage both their physical and mental wellbeing. Our programs consist of Group Fitness, Personal Training, and Outdoor Adventures. Each program consists of various services which include fitness classes, body composition assessments, specialty classes, bike maintenance seminars, hiking, and more. Dance Fitness
Dance fitness is a medium-high energy cardio class. This class includes dance choreography to provide a complete and entertaining cardiovascular workout. This fitness class makes cardio fun and gives a club-like environment without leaving the fitness room. The primary goal is to burn calories, including hip-hop movements that tone your arms, legs, and core. It gives a satisfying practice that builds confidence in your dance moves.
Cycling
This cardio class will keep your heart rate up while still providing a challenge for your legs. Enjoy a fun stationary ride
Muscle Pump
Muscle pump is a beginner friendly class which provides varying levels of difficulty for each exercise. Muscle Pump is a muscular endurance class that involves high repetitions and light weights. This class emphasizes quality of movement over quantity. This is to learn proper technique and maximizing effort efficiently.
Boot Camp
Outdoor Boot Camp is a fast-paced class that is a mix of strength, aerobic training, and HIIT. This class will challenge by using multi-joint movements to keep your whole body working and keep you moving. This class is designed to push you and keep you interested. Join us!
Pop PilatesⓇ Express
Pop PilatesⓇ is a Pilates-inspired workout done on the mat that flows to the beat of the music. It is a combination of ab-chiseling, muscle toning, core-defining moves that also work your flexibility, and there’s cardio too! No muscle is left untouched, and you will leave on an endorphin high! See you on the mat!
Yoga
In this class we will we go through gentle flows to build strength, balance, and flexibility. This class will focus on syncing breath and movement. You can expect to explore different kinds of breath work to increase awareness and mindfulness of the breath and body. Come and destress with supported meditation throughout our 15 min savasana where will quiet the mind and relax.

TAMIU Rec Sports Outdoor Adventures offers several activities such as biking, hiking, and other outdoor educational seminars. No bike? No problem. Bikes are available for rent to students and staff attending group rides. All standard group bike rides and activities are except for specialty programs, are FREE for Rec Sports members; all enrolled TAMIU students are members.

Hike & Sketch
Find the artist in you! Make quick sketches of nature and learn about plantlife and wildlife in the area. Sketching supplies (sketch pad and pencil) are provided during the hike, while supplies last. Reserve your spot today by signing up.
Bike Rides
Bike rides are open to the TAMIU community. Explore the trails that the city has to offer by joining us on a bike ride. Rides are set in different parks around Laredo. Rides vary in terrain and difficulty. No bike? No problem! Reserve a bike when you sign up for a bike ride (bikes are limited).
