General Information

TAMIU Rec Sports GroupEx offers a wide selection of fitness classes for an array of fitness levels. Whether you're an experienced fitness enthusiast or a beginner, our fun and energetic team of instructors will help you in your fitness journey. All fitness classes, except for specialty classes, are FREE for Rec Sports members; all students are members.

Class Descriptions

Boot Camp

You can command power, strength and agility with this military inspired circuit workout that will push you to your limits. As you maneuver your way through each workout station, you’ll lunge, crunch, box and more for a full body workout. In the end, you’ll leave class feeling exhilarated. Boot Camp classes take place both indoors and outdoors. Come prepared to get fit done!

 

Power Lift

Power lift incorporates body weight exercises and other strengthening techniques to help you reach your maximum potential. Join us for 60 minutes of gnarly weight training. You'll push, you'll jump, you'll pull yourself into a stronger you. 

 

Loud Pilates

Pilates is a method of exercise that consists of low-impact flexibility and muscular strength and endurance movements. Pilates emphasizes proper postural alignment, core strength and muscle balance.

 

Cardio Kickboxing

Cardio kickboxing is a group fitness class that combines martial arts techniques with fast-paced cardio. This high-energy workout challenges the beginner and elite athlete alike. Build stamina, improve coordination and flexibility, and burn calories as you build lean muscle with this fun and challenging workout.

 

Taekwondo

Taekwondo is one of the most systematic and scientific Korean traditional martial arts, that teaches more than physical fighting skills. It is a discipline that shows ways of enhancing our spirit and life through training our body and mind. 

 

Total Body Blast 

An all level Total Body Blast workout designed to safely trim, tighten and tone your entire body. Typically focus on small pulsing movements with emphasis on form, alignment and core engagement.  By using small, controlled movements, isometric holds and high repetition, you can develop a strong, long, and lean physique in record time.This class finishes with a gentle stretching and a light cool down. 

 

High Intensity Interval Training

HIIT is a high intensity interval training class designed to push your body to its absolute max. With high reps and low-recovery time, this extreme full-body workout will challenge your body and mind! Come and take the challenge!
