Welcome home, Dr. Pablo Arenaz University President Texas A&M International University WELCOME HOME, DUSTDEVIL! 2 NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION
Dear Dustdevils, Welcome! We’re so glad you’re here. We’ve been preparing for your arrival for some time now and are excited to finally meet you. Whether you’re a transfer student or you’re just starting out, it’s crucial for you to remember that a college education is more than just lectures and labs. College is about relationships, learning about yourself and the world around you. That’s why the Division of Student Engagement is committed to providing an extensive array of programs and resources to help you grow in many different ways. TAMIU has hundreds of events, student groups and opportunities for you to participate in. Allow yourself to have a full college experience by involving yourself in some way. You’ve worked hard to get here and deserve to experience all we have to offer. I know that being on a new campus filled with people you don’t know can be intimidating, but one of the most important things you can do as a college student is to connect with someone or something on campus. Research shows that doing so can help you succeed academically and live a happier life. Connecting can look different for everyone. Student Engagement is dedicated to providing a variety of opportunities to build relationships with large groups of people or with individuals (for the shy types like me) that can guide, support, and celebrate you. Don’t pass up the opportunity to connect on the court, in the office, or at the Student Center. This college experience will only show up once for you. Show up for it and make the most of it. Don’t leave anything on the table. It's an honor to serve you and this community. If at any point I can be of service or if you’d simply like to chat, please don't hesitate to reach out. We want you to have a great experience at TAMIU and are here to help. Have a wonderful semester! 3 NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION WELCOME HOME, DUSTDEVIL!
