BELONG@TAMIU 3 WELCOME TO THE DUSTDEVIL FAMILY Welcome to the Dustdevil Family! Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in your life. You are now part of an international community of fellow students, faculty, staff, and alumni who are committed to your success. I hope you will embrace your new Dustdevil family, become involved, and take advantage of all this University has to offer. TAMIU offers an experience hard to find at other institutions. It is our hope that you take advantage of the countless opportunities we provide to develop your critical thinking, leadership, research and career skills. TAMIU offers services that will help you reach your goals both inside and outside the classroom. We promote an international education by providing opportunities for our students to study abroad. Decide today that you will discover the world by studying both in the classroom and another country. Programs are offered year round for various lengths of time to accommodate almost any degree program and location. These experiences will last a lifetime and help prepare you for the global workforce you will soon join. I invite you to make the most of your four years at TAMIU - in the classroom, on the playing field, or through the myriad of campus activities, student clubs and organizations. I wish you the best as you begin many new adventures as a proud member of the Dustdevil family. Welcome home, JUAN J. CASTILLO Interim President Texas A&M International University

Dear Dustdevils, Welcome! We’re so glad you’re here. We’ve been preparing for your arrival for some time now and are excited to finally meet you. Whether you’re a transfer student or you’re just starting out, it’s crucial for you to remember that a college education is more than just lectures and labs. College is about relationships, learning about yourself and the world around you. That’s why the Division of Student Engagement is committed to providing an extensive array of programs and resources to help you grow in many different ways. TAMIU has hundreds of events, student groups and opportunities for you to participate in. Allow yourself to have a full college experience by involving yourself in some way. You’ve worked hard to get here and deserve to experience all we have to offer. I know that being on a new campus filled with people you don’t know can be intimidating, but one of the most important things you can do as a college student is to connect with someone or something on campus. Research shows that doing so can help you succeed academically and live a happier life. Connecting can look different for everyone. Student Engagement is dedicated to providing a variety of opportunities to build relationships with large groups of people or with individuals (for the shy types like me) that can guide, support, and celebrate you. Don’t pass up the opportunity to connect on the court, in the office, or at the Student Center. This college experience will only show up once for you. Show up for it and make the most of it. Don’t leave anything on the table. It's an honor to serve you and this community. If at any point I can be of service or if you’d simply like to chat, please don't hesitate to reach out. We want you to have a great experience at TAMIU and are here to help. Have a wonderful semester! 3 ROSALINDA GARCÍA Vice President of Student Engagement Texas A&M International University BELONG@TAMIU
