Intended Educational (Student) Outcomes:
1. Students completing the Bachelor of Arts in Music will
acquire musical knowledge and skills.
2. Students completing the Bachelor of Arts in Music will demonstrate
basic performance skills on one major instrument (at a minimum).
3. Students completing the Bachelor of Arts in Music degree will
be prepared to attain professional positions in music education.

1. Students completing the Bachelor of Arts in Music will acquire
musical knowledge and skills.
First Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
1a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success:
Bachelor of Arts in Music graduates will be measured using a departmentally-administered
comprehensive music examination. Students must score at least a 70% on the
examination.

One student passed the examination (out of one).
1a. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program:
Because only one student graduate in this term, there were insufficient
data to make an evaluation of assessment criteria.

Bachelor of Arts in Music graduates will be surveyed regarding their
successful entry into graduate music programs.

be prepared to attain professional positions in music education.
First Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
3a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success:
Bachelor of Arts in Music graduates will be surveyed one year following
their graduation by the Department of the Fine and Performing Arts in order
to gather data concerning whether or not students obtained employment in
the music field. The faculty have set the benchmark for successful employment
at 70% (at a minimum).

students’ graduation by the Department of the Fine and Performing Arts
in order to gather supporting data regarding the satisfactory performance
of graduates.
