Intended Educational (Student) Outcome:
NOTE: There should be one form for each intended outcome listed.
The intended outcome should be restated in the box immediately below
and the intended outcome number entered in the blank spaces.
__1__ At the end of the program, social work students will understand
and be able to apply the values of the profession and exhibit an understanding
of the impact of issues of diversity, economic injustice and oppression
on families, communities and groups in their internship and future job.
First means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
1a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success:
The percent of students who graduated in 2003 and passed the state licensure
exam will be used to assess satisfactory performance on this exam.
Content areas in which students are examined include: practice, communication
and relationships, utilization of practice research, human development
and behavior, professional values, ethics and policies governing service,
policies and procedures governing service delivery, effects of culture,
race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, age, and disability, and
supervision, administration and service delivery.
____a. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
Two students took the Licensure exam and passed it.
____a. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program:
Because of the small number that took the exam a report outlining
student scores by content area was not issued. However the passage by
these former students was compared to scores in the ACAT exam since
some of the content areas were similar.
Second Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
__1__b. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success:
Internship supervisor evaluation
__1__b. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
The results are based on Evaluations of students made by field
supervisors. Although the number of participants was small the data
covering the 10 field learning objectives was revealing. In every objective
the students improved their performance from their midterm evaluation
to their final evaluation. The only area that called for improvement
was Objective 9-Apply basic concepts of research as they relate to evaluating
practice and agency assignments.
__1__b. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program:
To improve student mastery in this area the research text was changed
and a research module has been added to the field seminar.

Intended Educational (Student) Outcome:
2. Social work graduates will compare favorably with other social
work graduates in the state and nation in knowledge and beginning level
social work generalist skills.
First Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
____a. ACAT assessment which covers nine skill areas: diversity,
populations at risk, social and economic justice, values and ethics,
policy & services, social work Practice, HBSE, and Research methods.
It is a national exam and 68% of the scores fall between 400 and 600.
The goal was for all our students to fall within the norm.
Ten graduates in the 2003-2004 academic year took the ACAT.
____a. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
Because there were only two graduates in the last cohort the testing
agency could not provide group scores for a sample of 3 or fewer. However,
they provided summary data for 8 of the ten graduates for the academic
year. While the cohort fell within the 400 to 600 range, there were
areas that indicated need for improvement. These included populations
at risk, research methods, policy and services, and social and economic
justice.
____a. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program: As a
result of these findings the course content and texts in three courses
were changed and modified to help students master the content better.
