'Oddments: Recent Images' "Oddments: Recent Images" by artist/photographer Kent Rush, will be on exhibit at the Texas A&M International University Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Gallery through April 13.
Admission is free of charge and open to the public. Gallery hours of operation are from noon to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
Fitness and Sports New Graduate Students interested in fitness and sports will benefit from a new graduate field of study that will be offered this Fall at Texas A&M International University. TAMIU’s College of Education has developed this academic concentration in response to significant interest from students, said Dr. Humberto González, dean of the College of Education. “We pride ourselves on offering programs that are responsive to our service communities’ needs, and this is our latest initiative. It’s aimed at helping qualified individuals enhance their professional career opportunities. The Fitness and Sports concentration can allow individuals to obtain a deeper understanding of issues such as the physiology of aging, exercise physiology, sports psychology, enhancement of performance in sports, sports pedagogy, and curriculum in Physical Education,” Dr. Gonzalez said. University Posts Enrollment, Official enrollment figures reported to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for the Spring Semester 2006 at Texas A&M international University show a 4.23% increase in enrollment and a 7.77% increase in semester credit hours (SCH). Total combined undergraduate and graduate enrollment is 4,380, up from last Spring's 4,202 . SCH is 43,985, up from last Spring's 40,810.
New Show at the TAMIU Planetarium Discover “Kaluoka’hina, The Enchanted Reef” at Texas A&M International University’s Lamar Bruni Vergara Planetarium Friday, March 3 at 7 p.m. This family entertainment feature film transports viewers to a tropical coral reef as Jake, a young sawfish and his buddy Shorty, a lively reef fish, try to restore the magic of their enchanted home after a volcanic catastrophe breaks the spell. Jake’s and Shorty’s home is a one-of-a-kind world that is colorful and foreign, full of adventure and danger, riddles and mysteries, old legends and old myths.
