Who Wants to be a Millionaire?
Lawyer, investor, and entrepreneur, Joseph Michael Dickerson ’98, shares his formula to achieve wealth in his newly published book, The Road Map to Rich: A Lawyer’s Perspective on Getting and Staying Rich. Anyone can chart their own road map to financial wealth. Done right, says Dickerson, anyone can become a millionaire while investing little time and money.
“I’ve found that you don’t have to be a genius to be rich; you don’t even have to have a formal education,” says Dickerson. “A degree, in and of itself, does not make you rich. While most truly wealthy professionals make high incomes, it’s what they do with their money that makes and keeps them rich.”
A self-made millionaire, Dickerson made his first $1 million at the age of 34. He achieved financial success by taking advantage of overlooked opportunities and taking calculated risks. Specifically, he invested in multiple real estate ventures and started several businesses, including his own law practice, all of which have produced greater than 100 percent return on his investment.
Dickerson details his success in his new book, The Road Map to Rich: A Lawyer’s Perspective on Getting and Staying Rich (Ovation Books, May 2007), which reveals how he became a millionaire in less than 10 years. As reviewed by My Shelf.com, “The Road Map to Rich is not a get rich quick promise - no fireworks, no overblown claims, and no magical spells. Instead, Dickerson calmly and confidently points the way to financial security through sensible action and management of assets. Whether you are seeking millionaire status or just a solid economic base, the good advice in The Road Map to Rich can make the process smoother, faster, and more productive.”
Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, a master’s degree in international trade and a law degree. For more than 12 years, he has helped clients create plans and strategies to maximize personal wealth through real estate acquisition, asset protection and the development of sound business structures.
